View Full Version : Boycott the new Feet.tv!!!!

The new Feet.tv went online today. It's now a pay site! You can't view anyone's photos or profiles until you pay, you can't send any messages until you pay, and it appears the only members online right now are 50+ guys in dresses (transvestites).
What the hell happened to Feet.tv? I'm not going to visit there ever again

Update: It's impossible to delete your account. All your information will be stuck there forever.

I haven't gotten that far into it, but I'm not all that impressed with it either. Didn't know that you had to pay just to see pics or profiles. But like sportsocks13, what bothers me more is that is seems to be part of some sort of larger social network/personals site that has women, and lots of other fetishes that may not be the cup of tea for foot guys. I can't understand that at all.
If they can at least separate all the foot guys, there could almost be something there. But until then, I'm not really sold.
Problem is, I don't know if there's anyone else to take on another foot network. Foot fetish is viewed as adult content, and most social network groups charge a lot of money for that. And the old site pretty much proved that no one's really going to pay for it. Who's gonna pay a lot of their own money, do a lot of work to build a site, and get nothing in return?

My god if the new feet.tv is ugly
But honestly I don't think that Pharaoh tought it would end that way, would be nice hearing something from him
And yeah, apart the fact that the site is fugly and you can't do ANYTHING without paying I think it's linked to other cruising sites (dunno which), hence the spam of transvestites, females, guys not into feet etc....I cannot find any of the old pics and/or members
a big big screwup, if someone finds other foot cruising sites....post!

I too am a member of Feet.tv, and to say the rest of the others -- I'm not happy about it. I like it the way it was -- and for this new turnaround, we got "hosed" big-time. :(
If anyone can remember it, when the videos were taken down on Feet.tv, he had a link were one can connect, and it was nothing but an Alternative Lifestyle Hookup site where if you want to meet, you'll have to pay. Well, to me it's the same thing as Alt.com...
I went there, and it was pitiful. I got outta dodge as fast as I can, no pun intended.
However...
A member from Feet.tv sent me this email of the outcome.
================================================== ======
COMPLAIN:
If you are saying that the next step is to filter the site so that only Feet.tv members are visible and not other members of the community, you should let it know all users on old Feet.tv.
I just deleted my profile because I didn’t know anything about this.
The other things are:
WE CANNOT SEND ANY MESSAGES
WE CANNOT SEE ANY PROFILE COMPLETELY
In other words: we do have to pay to use all the features on the site.
Man, to be honesty with you, I don’t think that… the users from old Feet tv, will agree with all those things.
Take my advice man… try to do something to bring Feet.tv back on the road the way used to be… or Feet.tv will die soon, believe me!
I REPEAT… IT WAS THE BEST FEET SITE ON THE NET EVER.
Think about this man!!!
Regards!
REPLY:
Man, I totally understand your frustration, but let me clarify few things:
I run feet.tv for 4 year. About less than 2 years ago the company which I used its software and platform to run the site stops supporting adult sites, and the result was I had to shutdown the site almost 2 years ago, and rebuild it with another company, then, last month this happened again! The company just decided to stop adult sites and shutdown everything. During those 4 years, while the site was growing fast and people loved it, there were many complains about performance and bugs.
Last month, I faced few choices:
1- Shut down feet.tv completely. I don't want to do that!
2- Find a new company to do the same hosting agreement, which I did twice and you see the result. I don't trust this model again, after having to shutdown twice.
3- Create a unique software and get my own servers, that would have taken months to complete and would require lots of month, which Feet.tv is not able to do as there are not funds, since as you know the site was completely free for the past 4 years.
or the choice I selected which is:
4- Find a major company who run adult industry site, and partner with them, to use their advanced software and severs and customer support. This will bring to Feet.tv stability and advanced features and there will be no more risking of shutting down because for the company to agree to partner with Feet.tv, feet.tv will have to be paid site for most features, to justify the existence and the cost of running the site. Since I negotated with the company, I was able to import all 30k members to the new site and joining an existing community. All 120k photos have been imported to the new site. So now Feet.tv is part of a larger community with has more than feet fetish. As I prove to the company that feet.tv has a growing community by its own, the next step is to filter the site so that only feet.tv members are visible, and not other members of the community. I am working on getting this done asap, but it will take time and convincing, which I was not able to do yet till I show that members will actually re-join the new site, to get some leverage.
During the next few days, we will send an email to announce the re-launch. Once members start to re-activate their profiles, their photos and profiles will be visible and you will see more feet on the site. The target is to filter preference to make only feet fetish visible.
I hope this gives you a little insight of what caused all this change. It was not something that I initiated. I wished things remain the same, but I am excited about all the new features and stability of the new site.
let me know if you have any questions or thoughts
================================================== =======
So, I'm just as upset as many others. I hope that this would help to spread the word, or it would just be something that would be only a wet memory.
I hope I don't get into trouble for this, I just want to spread the word of what's going on.
Just my 0002 cents on the situation.
Have a good one, foot friends!

I guess I have to resort to Craigslist for foot fun, but that doesn't always work.
I enjoyed Feet.tv because I could enjoy feet from people all over the world and they would compliment me on my feet pictures. Not to mention I hooked up with a few people from Feet.tv.
All of that is gone now.

I agree with looopoz; I don't think Pharaoh anticipated things would turn out this way. In my interactions with him he came across as genuine and appreciative, and I think he did want to keep the community together.
With that said, I closed my account on the new site within a few minutes of logging on for the first time. I didn't realize it was going to be one of those colossal personals sites that happens to have the feet.tv logo at the top because we use that URL to log-in. I was willing to pay for a site that was foot-exclusive, but I'm not paying to sort through thousands of users that include women. Also, one of the best things about the old site was that you knew that if someone was on that site looking around, they were truly into feet in some capacity. That's why I didn't mind having face pics up or letting down my guard while talking to people. But on the new site it's likely that a "match" (quotation marks intentional) clicked FEET on the fetish list because they 1) got click-happy, 2) weren't particularly repulsed at the thought even though it's not something they're into, or 3) are just desperate for matches.
So, it's a very unfortunate end to an era. Thankfully we at least still have this forum, so kudos to the team behind footbuddies.com for giving us an outlet.

Yes I'm very dissapointed and I too closed my account within a minute or 2. As soon as I saw "alt.com" come up in the status bar, I knew the result before the INCREDIBLY MESSY page loaded. Never mind, it was great whilst it lasted, and I doubt alt.com will get many members from the takeover.
My thanks go to the founder of feettv for the great work he did, and I can understand his dilemma.

Because none of the data converted from the old site, I just lost the ability to contact some of my friends. I don't have their email addresses, so they are lost to me forever. I am really disappointed.
I feel like Pharaoh oversold all the so-called advantages of this new site, and I had no idea it was going to be just any other porn site. You can't even tell whose already on the site because the numbers reflect EVERYONE, not just the feet.tv members. I'm not about to risk $30 for a one-month trial only to find everyone in my area is on there for other reasons, not just feet.

The new site is indeed a mess.
And as there was already someone with my original nickname there (Footguy77), well, i just discovered that i lost all my pix, my infos and my contacts. They gave me a new nickname (ft_footguy77), and i just realized it was a blank profile. Knowing that it would turn out that way, i would certainly have asked my favorite contacts on the old feet.tv to give their email....
This is so frustrating.

Guess we can chalk this up to the "don't know what you have until it's gone" category. The old site requested donations many times, and I don't think many people did. (Sadly, I have to include myself in this same category.) And now, this is where we find ourselves.

I'm very sorry to hear about feet.tv too...I have not tried to log back on yet, but I'm afraid of what I'll see now. I too had buddies on there, I do have the phone number and emails of just few of them, but most of my other friends I just messaged on the site. It was a nice place for feet guys to hang out and have picture profiles. I chatted with guys from all over the world. I will really miss it a lot.

I thought it was just my profile that was fucked up but apparently not. They changed my sn and my old password doesn't work so I can't delete my account. I was lookin forward to the new site cuz I was ready to add more pics to my profile but so much for that. Atleast I know now its pointless to create a new profile if u can't even read other profiles w/out payin for that shitty site.

I'm having all the same disappointments and problems with the new FeetTV. The initial log-in was impossible.. took forever to get confirmation emails. Then my session "timed out" after a few idle mins, and I had to start all over again. My nickname was used by someone else, so they assigned me an awkward alternate version.. and I noticed it costs $19.95 to "change" my username, a name I didn't even select in the first place haha.. But besides any technical issues in getting set up, I don't like the interface of the site at all. So I've deleted my profile.
The first place I went to find everybody was here, old reliable FootBuddies.com... I was happy to see this thread about FeetTV so I could bitch a little and commiserate! And then I saw some familiar names and faces... and browsed the postings and pics... and I suddenly got an idea...
Why not camp out here?!?
Years ago when I used this site more often I was turned off by some of the personalities of the regulars, but since then the moderation has become solidly competent. I just noticed that the personal profiles have become more advanced also! I'm going to make time in the next few days to expand my profile and get set up here to network and post. Hope my friends from FeetTV will find me!
And I hope I'm not rustling a hornets' nest here on this site! haha Can you handle it, FootBuddies?? [wink]

Here's another disappointed Feet.TV user. The old site had its problems, but this new format is so unfriendly and terrible at navigation, I can't figure anything out. I also dislike that we're thrown in with so many other fetish types that it's hard to find anyone interested in just feet. I'm not sure if I'll stay or not.

I've seen these sorts of changes before. I remember the challenge of adapting to Footbuddies message board merging into what we see here now. I visited the previous Foot.tv site enough to know a change was coming. Pharoah did invite us to contact him (he had provided a contact link on the down page) with inquiries when he took the site down. I just didn't take him up on it.
I visited the new site today. The frontpage isn't all that bad. Although functionality isn't as smooth as I'd prefer. I can say that I did a general search of my area and didn't see the profiles that would generally have come up previously. I don't think that many know about the changes to dive in and delete their profiles all that quickly. So the data merger must not be complete yet.
I think the site really isn't ready yet. So will let the dust settle and wait to hear from Pharoah before coming to permanent conclusions about this.

For those with trouble logging in to the new site with your old user name and password, it appears (at least from what others have said here) that all feet.tv user names transferred with the ft_ prefix (e.g. shaggy828, my user name, became ft_shaggy828). The best way to log-in is to click the link to reset your password but instead of using your user name, use your e-mail address. Wait a few minutes for the e-mail to arrive. It'll include instructions for resetting your password and you'll be able to log in.

The following was sent out to the mailing list of FootMenNYC
__________________________
Dear Fellow FootMenNYC Men -
I have recently received more than a few emails from you asking what I know and my opinion about the 'New' Feet.TV site, so I thought I would send out my detailed opinion. Again, this will be my opinion.
First of all, FootMenNYC never had any direct connection with Feet.TV other than enjoying it, and having a second home for FootMenNYC. We always heavily promoted Feet.TV at our parties, and did our part to increase it's numbers. We had a very nice reciprocal barter arrangement with Feet.TV.
Here's what I have figured out. Please keep in mind that this is just my opinion as a fellow consumer.
Feet.TV webmaster, Pharaoh seems to have simply pointed the domain name Feet.TV to a generic fetish personals site (I don't even know the name of the generic site). There seems to be no customization other than seeing the Feet.TV logo at the top of the screen.
I was able to get on and look around. Strangely, a person cannot even do a search for guys into FEET, so what's the point in THAT?
It's is NOT the enclosed community we used to have. Also, in order to do anything on the site you have to pay too much money. I'm sure that Pharaoh will be getting a percentage of any monies raised from a member of Feet.TV
That is what I have directly observed. Therefore: FootMenNYC will NOT be participating as a group with Feet.TV now. I am sure the Feet.TV webmaster is NOT going to be happy with me, but I owe you my honest opinion.
WHAT IS THE ALTERNATIVE?
For the last year or so, I have been a member of the free site, http://www.Fetlife.com, (which has been thriving since 2008).
It's a general Leather/BD/SM Fetish Site. It has Gay, Bi, Str8 Men and Women on the site. You can identify your sexuality in your profile. . I
It's not perfect solution, but you can do a lot of things there, including put up photos, videos send messages to each other, write blogs, create and join groups (I run the 'm/m Foot' and 'm/m Tickling' groups). I have been creating FootMenNYC Events up on a regular basis.
It's a very friendly bunch of people, and it's also FREE!!!. It's only flaw is that the search engine is not perfect, but they are making improvements... PLUS there is almost a 700,000 person international crowd there...
I am OFFICIALLY recommending it to the FootMenNYC crowd, since it could use a fresh infusion of the Male Foot and related Fun community. I will be offering the Webmasters to promote the site at our parties if they provide us with postcards for the site.
Like I said it's not perfect, but it's a way for us to keep in touch, and to build a community.
If you join, I am listed as Tickl10019 on Fetlife, (please add me as your friend) and you will see the official FootMenNYC Banner (the attached image) as my main picture.
That's the story.
Also, check out the F.A.Q. section of our website. I have added a copy of "The FootCode" as well as some fun photos of my co-host, Mark giving a basic tour of the play spaces we have created at The Eagle. We are having really fun parties, and if there are some of you in the NYC area who haven't made it to one, now is the time. Our reputation has gotten around, and we are seeing a lot of new faces (and Feet)
Cheers,
Peter (co-host, FootMenNYC)

I came here because of the new Feet.tv. They've absolutely RUINED it. I lost all contact with all previous members because all profiles were deleted, and it was turned into this ad-heavy cheap dating site filled with profiles you have to PAY FOR to view. I am so angry beyond belief. I don't understand either, it says things like there are 92,000 members when how the hell is that possible when the site been open for like 3 days? It doesn't make any sense, and it shows you profiles that aren't even foot related. It's like another scam gay dating site with the logo Feet.tv slapped over the headline.

Hey kids, FootStudNY (Adam) here, one of the former moderators at Feet.tv.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I have nothing to do with this new Feet.tv. I was not consulted in any way about it's design, function, business model, management, policies, procedures -- nothing. I'm as shocked and underwhelmed by it as anyone.
About four days prior to Feet.tv going down, the site owner, The Pharaoh, notified me and the other moderator, FootSeek, that he had been struggling with the site software/services provider for about a month to figure out what to do with Feet.tv because the provider of the site's underlying software and services was going out of business. My first response was: you waited an entire f-ing month to tell us and everyone else?! Till just four days before the site goes down?! What were you thinking? Of anyone besides yourself? This is no way to run a 'community', and not even a particularly good way to run a business.
That essentially capped a growing distance regarding the management of Feet.tv between myself and ThePharaoh, with whose management and leadership policies and practices I had been finding myself in increasing disagreement. While being a very charming, sweet guy in person, ThePharaoh has always treated Feet.tv with a very proprietary attitude: I owne it, everyone's my guest, my word is law, you have no rights, per se, and privacy and secrecy are paramount virtues.
My attitude toward this and any online communal space is more that for them to really function well, and serve the most people the most, and grow, they've got to be encouraged to function as and be managed as actual community, and should be run in a communal fashion by, of, and for the community. Even some online communities which are technically owned, private, proprietary facilities are run in a communal fashion, with open discussion of policies, practices, rules, voting, and typically a group of leaders who take on the work and responsibilities of actually getting things done.
Instead of establishing forums for the discussion of the groups policies, procedures, management, and engaging members in participating in the maintenance and management of the community, ThePharaoh, fulfilling his self chosen name and title in ways which later revealed itself to be prophetical, decided to run Feet.tv like his own private kingdom. ThePharaoh deputized two members of the site, people he knew from the FootMenNYC parties, and made us "Moderators" which meant we had the authority to enforce the few rules, using just a few tools: the ability to look into people's profiles, delete posts, photos, and profiles, and suspend people temporarily or permanently. We had no ability to develop the site's features, function, we had no knowledge or access to the service on which the site was built, we had almost no say in any of the sites business practices, we got to suggest rules and guidelines, but ThePharaoh had final say, and frequently disagreed and vetoed our ideas. We were tasked with keeping order and peace, but not really with providing support or guidance. I took it upon myself to try providing some user friendly rules, guides, welcome letters in various languages, but that was all more or less on my own, and ThePharaoh chose to leave most of my hard work in that area off the official roster of rules. All the Moderating work the Moderators did was volunteer, uncompensated. To my knowledge, ThePharaoh was the sole proprietor of Feet.tv, sole manager and beneficiary of the business, which, he often complained, was far more work for far less compensation than he had hoped. Try as I might, he was unwilling to open up and get help in developing the business side of the site, to put into place contemporary strategies and techniques for building advertising and other forms of revenue (something I am involved in in my professional work).
Ultimately, it was this summer when a suicidal kid on the site got increasingly open and assertive about his suicidal talk that I found I was reaching the limit of my ability to comfortably endure the difference in management philosophy. I felt the kid needed guidance, hand-holding, help, and the site should get professional advice from suicide prevention experts on how to help people who are at risk for suicide, and prevent harm, and we needed legal advice, to help ensure that what we're doing is legal and protective of the community, the Feet.tv site, us. ThePharaoh refused, and, essentially, told the kid to shut up on this topic, it's disturbing the peaceful enjoyment of other members. That shut the kid up for a while, but he was at it even more threateningly 6 weeks later, at which time I decided that for my own conscience and legal safety, and that of the site, I would consult suicide prevention experts, and doctors, who eventually did recommend action, and later the Director of Counseling Services at the kid's college wrote to me to thank me for intervening -- I may have helped save a life.
So, I take the recent turn of events for Feet.tv as further evidence showing that my concerns about Feet.tv and ThePharaoh's management philosophy and style were well founded.
I wish ThePharaoh well, but find the new site to put it mildly, painfully disappointing.
If anyone wants to contact me directly about this matter, or online footfetish communities, please email me at FootStudNY@yahoo.com
Best wishes n foot kisses,
Adam

Thank you....FootStudNY and everyone else for shedding light on what happened to feet.tv.
I was anticipating an updated, improved version of what we previously had and like everyone else, blindsided by what we got. I had no idea what was going on behind the scenes, and I appreciate the information and effort individuals like FootStudNY and others put in to making this an international one-of-a-kind place for us. Really, you guys did a great job, despite the difficulties.

I enjoyed the old site like many people here did. I
tried 3 three times to join the new site, and I found
it just about impossible, so I gave up. But I will say
I agree with Tiedfeetguys' point: if more of us who enjoyed
the site had donated money like Pharaoh has asked us
many times to, maybe he wouldn't have been forced to do
what he did.
Sometimes if you want to have access to good things
you have to shell out the bucks for it. I think in some ways
we let the Pharaoh down. I was tempted to donate, but I
never did. I feel bad about that now. If this site asked people
to donate money to keep it afloat, how many of us here(most
of whom love it very much) would give?
I'm sad to say, I don't think very many of us would.

I agree totally with everyone. I went on the site when I realized it came back up. I was on there for about 3 minutes after getting a new id, etc, and then I closed my account. I can't believe it turned into nothing more than a useless pay site! Good riddance.

Yeah, that suicidal kid was an odd situation. I was surprised he was allowed to post what he did for as long as he did (as I recall, he made many threatening posts to other members as well as himself). Ultimately, he seemed to turn out better, and I'm glad to hear it was thanks in part to your intervention. Good work.
Very interesting perspectives about the entire situation. What I also thought was a bit odd on the site is that once it got pretty large, I felt like I rarely heard anything from The Pharaoh. I almost wasn't even sure if he was visiting his own site, he seemed pretty nonexistent to the rank and file member.
Are there any plans to begin a new network? It sounds like there may be enough experienced people around to do so.

The thing that bothers me the most about it is that you have to pay now. It's bullshit, the owner before said Feet.tv will always be a free site. He fucked up big time. And I am extremely pissed off because I've lost ALL contact with so many great people on that site because the owner never mentioned all profiles and information would be deleted. Plus it was quite short notice when we found out the site was switching servers.
I think we should create a new FREE foot network community/forum and recruit all old feet.tv members we can find.

if more of us who enjoyed
the site had donated money like Pharaoh has asked us
many times to, maybe he wouldn't have been forced to do
what he did.
It had nothing to do with donating money at the time. It had to do with the company that hosted the site and provided the basic software for the site going out of business. People could have donated a lot of money and it wouldn't have made a difference.
FootStudNY has told you the truth about the how and why. I would see Pharaoh at our FootMenNYC parties, and I would email him about technical and content issues occasionally. I hate to admit it, but Pharaoh was never really into the community aspect of things.
1) Pharaoh knew at least a month in advance that the host was going out of business.
2) He didn't tell anybody who could have advised him, such as FootStudNY (who is involved with web-business)
3) He could have easily found a similar host that could have handled a specific social networking site like feet.tv (I did a basic search and found several candidates)
Instead, he basically sold his 30,000 plus membership list to a large generic site. Remember, you can't even do a search for men into FEET on this new generic site!!
Pharaoh has wiped his hands of all of you, and he hopes that you will be sheep and just pay money to the new site. Pharaoh will be getting money from this, without any real involvement.
There's nothing wrong with that. It's his right. Mailing lists are valuable commodities.
Anyway, a bunch of Footguys have started joining Fetlife.com It's free. There IS a $5 per month charge if you want to look at uploaded videos, (which I don't want to pay) but there's nothing to stop you from trading links to youtube or any other video site.
Yes, I know there is a grieving process that's going on, but the situation is not going to magically change. Feet.TV as you want it is OVAH!! This new version is not going to change much.
Again, if you haven't done so, check out Fetlife.com I'm not earning any money from it, but it can give you a place to hang out, put up your pics and talk to other foot guys.
Another possible solution (for those on Facebook) is to create a separate Foot-related account on Facebook, and join some of the many Feet related clubs and groups already there....
We can complain all we want, but it's not going to change.

It's a shame the owner of feet.tv didn't follow the business models of the more successful social networking sites.
Bear411 and Recon are two to which I subscribe. Membership is free. There are limitations to what you can do and how often you can do it as a free member; but all the basic functions are available to anyone at any level. If you choose to pay for a membership you get additional features, most of which I have been quite happy to live without.
Offering NO features to non-paying members, and basic features only to paying members is a recipe for shooting oneself in the... foot. I estimate ninety percent of the memberships of Bear411 and Recon are of non-paying members. If their site owners chose to charge everyone to use it, the ninety percent who have free memberships would simply disappear. This would ultimately drive away the paying ten percent, since they would now have lost ninety percent of what they paid for.
And I see this happening to the owner of feet.tv. How truly sad that greed blinds.

Not to defend anything, but you can in fact search for feet under the new site. But it's listed as "Podophilia". Doesn't make anything else any better, but there you go.
It had nothing to do with donating money at the time. It had to do with the company that hosted the site and provided the basic software for the site going out of business. People could have donated a lot of money and it wouldn't have made a difference.
That's good info to know, thanks for sharing!

This statement intrigues me. If it's that easy, what's to stop anyone from making another group? Can it be done?

I'm not into bondage or S&M at all so I don't think i'll join fetlife.... I wish a new community for JUST feet would be created.
I don't think there is such a thing as "just feet". We are far too diverse a group for all of us to have feet as our sole (pun intended) interest.
I think to do what you wish would ultimately fragment our already small community into little, tiny parts, which probably won't survive on their own. Taken to an extreme, why not set up a community for JUST men who like to lick freshly washed toes during full moons? Or a community for JUST men who like to rub the flat left foot of long-distance runners?
Would you turn away a prospective member because he also likes to tickle feet? Or turn away one who also gives footjobs? Or sniffs socks? Licks boots? Sings in a choir?
A group such as "just feet" just won't last; check the graveyard of Yahoo! Groups for ultra-specific interests that died on the vine.
There is strength in numbers. We're here because there is a thousand or so of us sharing a commonality and keeping that commonality alive. Let's not mess with a formula that works.
The love of feet overlaps with so many other related interests, it would be like a cruel surgery to try to separate it from everything else. Here at Footbuddies, we can all revel in our common bond, the love of the foot, while marveling at the many, many shades of color our interest touches upon. If FetLife with its many philias has the same philosophy, I wouldn't turn away from it. Heck, I might even end up learning something new.

The thing that bugged me about the pharoah was his inability to listen to what the members wanted. Like the video chat section. That was cool, and you could click on someones icon and instant message them, but when the site was painfully slow, and you had to wait until all 50 or so icons appeared, he never took anyones advice on making it easier. I agree, he sold everyone out, plain and simple, for the almighty dollar. It's been said, it's over, so now we move on. Hope the pharoah is happy with his choices.

And I think you totally misunderstood what I wrote. Feet.tv wasn't just for people with a foot fetish. It was for people who had an interest in feet, not just the classic foot fetish.
Are you saying that you want someone to create a community of just people who want to suck toes, and nothing else? And everyone who has additional interests should be turned away? That's what I'm reading. My apologies if you are not putting your thoughts to words the way you intended.
And, should anyone try it, fragmenting our already small slice of the world will cause that effort to wither away from lack of participation. The subset of people who "just have a foot fetish" would be too small a group and too exclusive to survive.
We have a community right here. The only thing we lack that feet.tv had is the ability to post video clips. (Did feet.tv allow live chat, as well?) And that could be done, if it were in the best interests of the ownership of this site.

Wow gymfoot, I'd be pretty angry about that too.
I also thought that the video chat on feet.tv, was a cool feature, but Not at the expense of the terribly slow speed of the site. I think even without that feature feet.tv was an awesome site.
And there were Many guys on feet.tv who were also into bondage, shoes, socks, tickling and bastinado.
The common thread that brought us to that site was of course the interest in feet AND foot related "kink"... in whatever form that took.
Recon is a great site for profiles in Many differing interest categories and for networking as Scooter mentioned before. You can register your profile under the Feet sub-group there. I might add that they have a Really Good local and worldwide search system there as well. And yes, there are guys registered under the Feet category who also love bondage, tickling and other activities. I am Very much into feet, but I am registered under the Bondage group there. I am Ropedupbud on there.

It's not so much about turning people away as about seeking out a place where people meet on common ground.
If we were to include everyone, it wouldn't be a niche society and would defeat the purpose of using it for seeking out like-minded people. An interest in feet is hardly a small minority, as proven by feet.tv it brought together a huge variety of people with myriad different niche interests. But the central governing factor was 'feet'-this was the criterion by which many of us wanted to limit our pool. We don't want to sign up to, say, a bondage site, in order to find the few people on there who are into feet. We wouldn't have expected a bondage enthusiast to join feet.tv in order to search out the few there who shared his love for handcuffs!
As well as this, we feel safe amongst other foot-lovers, especially those of us who are 'closet' podophiles and would feel embarrassed or judged amongst those who don't share that passion.
Re: this place as an alternative, I think the structure and aims of the site are different. It's a message board, not a social networking site, and its format lends itself to a different type of interaction. Browsing profiles is possible but inconvenient, and searching them isn't an option. Don't get me wrong, this is a great site and offers a great service, but it will not fill the place of the social platform feet.tv served as.

There were MANY guys on feet.tv who also loved bondage and other types of activities, The common thread WAS feet, but all that time you were on feet.tv you were on a site that also had guys into "Feet and Bondage" and Feet and other activities that they enjoy along with feet.......Many of the guys who were my friends there liked my profile Because of the bondage element and the pics of barefoot tied up guys in it too. And I had More than a "few Friends" on there.
Feet.tv had all of those guys on there. The common thread was feet.
It Was common ground, but there were other kinds of interests too. Just as it is here at FootBuddies.

I think what is trying to be said is that feet.tv's central theme and the glue that held the community that frequented that site together was feet. Feet tv. had thousands of men all in one place with an interest in foot fetishism in all it's many forms as it's central focus and as a result you pretty much knew that if someone had a profile on that site that their interests were at least foot related in one form or another.
It's the same with any type of community that like minds want to come together based on a common interest. As men who have foot fetishes we want and deserve a community all our own, sure many of us are not exclusive in our sexual interests but our primary interests when it comes to things of a sexual nature are mostly foot related and in all honesty I think most of us are getting just a little bit tired of having to settle for only the crumbs that the more mainstream communities have to offer.
We don't want to have to go to a site that is bondage based, s and m based, cross dressing based or straight based and have to sift through thousands of profiles in the hopes that we will occasionally get lucky and find a few other people who's sexual tastes may or may not include feet.
Unfortunately guys with foot fetishes are pretty much still excluded from the rainbow family of gay life. Our communities are still pretty much confined to the internet and we need each other and we need a place all our own.
BDSM and leather fetishes for example have become so mainstream that those communities even have their own bars and shops in most major cities. When was the last time you heard of a foot bar?
The local bear bar that I frequent even has a BDSM shop set up within the bar itself and it is always packed especially on a Saturday night. There is absolutely nothing out there for us as a community, so I don't think that it's unreasonable that we want a community all our own, even if it is just an online community.
It's kind of ironic that having a foot fetish is supposed to be the most common fetish out there but people are either still completely ignorant of it, or they still have so many hangups related to it.
I frankly am getting just a little bit tired of always having to be the one has to get my needs met vicariously through other communities that weren't really created with us in mind in the first place.

No, I am not saying just a community of people who "want to suck toes". I mean a communtiy for people who just plain and simple have a foot fetish. A sexual interest in feet whether it involves worshipping, smelling, bondage, whatever. The foot fetish is the most common of all fetishes, having a specific communtity to foot fetishists is not at all a very exclusive group. There are hundreds of thousands of people out there with a foot fetish (maybe even millions), it's not at all exclusive.

I totally get what everyone is saying, but until another site with the same format and mission that feet.tv originally had comes along again it's better to be out there Somewhere than not being out there at all.
I will say that if you guys just went and saw the format at Recon you would see that every time you log on you will go Directly to the feet section of the site Every Time You Log On.... You will not even see the profiles of the guys who are registered there for other interests at all, unless you want to switch over to that section to look at those profiles. You will be able to see what other foot guys are registered in your state/city/ area or if you are going to travel you can check out and message guys in the city you are going to visit.. There are the lists of the newest 100 profiles who have added new pictures, along with the most viewed profiles etc...
You will Not have to sift thru profiles to find other men who are there for feet. They are all in one section there.
I know its not like a site that is Totally created for guys into feet, but I bet if you check it out and give it a try you will like it.

Moreover, everyone else is capable of making making their own decision too. If a site/company/product has trashed itself, people will leave it high and dry; people didn't have to be told to 'boycott New Coke' - they figured it out all by themselves! ;)

This type of oversimplified bomb dropping is one of the things that pisses me off about the way some people participate in social networks. This person has nothing of substance to add to the discussion, and instead of simply tuning out and looking at something else of interest to him, dismisses the whole experience with the mentality of a 16 year-old girl: "Like, just get OVER it already! [eyeroll]" Maybe they should take their own advice.
Obviously Feet.tv made an impact on the way footguys interact online, or it wouldn't have created such a disappointment by the way it changed. And clearly there's a lot of people who have something to say about it. Sometimes people need to vent a little to feel better, and these bulletin boards and social sites make that possible.
I haven't yet found a comparable alternative to what Feet.tv offered and for now I'm happy to take advantage of what Footbuddies has. [For some reason there's not much talk about hanging here..? Yet here we are.] I've used recon.com for years with some decent results. I checked out fetlife.com and I don't personally feel it. I agree that it would be cool to have another site that is largely foot-related (along with its many variations) as opposed to a site primarily about a myriad of different fetish interests.. oh yeah and feet also. But we'll see what happens.. Change is good!

That is the whole purpose of venting: to blow off steam about something you can't/won't/shouldn't take action upon. Very healthy, as opposed to bottling up anger. I highly recommend that anyone else unsatisfied with feet.tv let their opinions be known.

hahaha Do you have anything of substance to add to the conversation? Or does that same one-liner "Like, get over it!" cover it all? Comment bombs like that are a childish attempt to trivialize situations and people's feelings. If you want to participate in the conversation, read and process the responses that explained pretty clearly why these people are venting. If you don't like it, stop reading and go to something more interesting to you. There's plenty of other things to read about and pictures to look at on here. Cheers!

Many of the expressions of frustration on here relate to a single and important point, namely that with the transformation of feet.tv we have lost a unique virtual community. It was extraordinary to log onto the site and see the news feed indicating that men all over the world were constantly joining the site, posting material, and checking out and complimenting each other’s profiles. Never before had the male foot fetish community seemed so large, or the fetish itself seemed so ‘normal’. Apart from that, the site’s various features and messaging capacity allowed the community to be subdivided and localized in a manner that made it possible to actually reach out and touch another person into feet, online or in person. The loss of the database of foot friends made over time is a loss not just because we can no longer see the pictures and videos we enjoyed most, but also because real humans were involved and many real human connections were made even where those connections didn’t involve a foot hookup.
It appears that the Pharaoh didn’t appreciate the true significance of feet.tv... if he had realised that it had become much more than ‘tv’ – much more than simply a place for visual stimulation – he might not have dealt with it in a way that was so inconsiderate to its members.

Like all of who posted on this thread, I was very disappointed with the process and outcome of transforming feet.tv from what we knew and loved to the new site. However, I think many of you are forgetting that behind feet.tv stood 1 person, the Pharaoh) with a full time job other than feet.tv with a life outside feet.tv who had an idea to create this amazing community 4 years ago. He stepped out to the plate and made it happen for FOUR YEARS. He had to deal with a major migration process when the NING platform gave feet.tv (and other adult content sites) the boot. He could have easily shut down feet.tv then but didn't. People complained then about the transition to what was not a very user friendly or smooth running platform but eventually we all got used to it and its limitations. And the site was kept free. Believe me the Pharaoh was frustrated by that process and the outcome but made it possible for us to have feet.tv FREE for another couple of years.
I recently chatted with him about the most recent transition. He was so upset that yet again he had to find a new platform for feet.tv. He was given less than a month's notice by the existing owners of the platform that their platform was going out of business. He pleaded with them to let him keep feet.tv running until he finds a new solution, something that takes time, research and effort. They wouldn't budge. So he quickly explored his options. He really had 3 options:
1. Shut down feet.tv all together
2. Build a new platform which would match the needs and features we knew and keep the site free but would cost an arm and a leg to maintain - he had no more money since donations were almost non-existant.
3. Find a pay site that could give the administrative support to keep a site with 30,000 members going and provide some sort of platform with some features for free and others for paid members.
He chose # 3 and found alt.net as the vendor. He went into negotiations with them to keep the member search and ability to view some member photos a feature for free members - they said no. He tried to get them to agree to filter out feet.tv members from other fetish members. They said OK but lets see how much traffic we get from these new members and see if it is financially viable for us to go into the extra effort and spend the extra money needed to design and program to allow such a filtering to occur on their existing platform.
They were going to send out a mass email to everyone before launching to explain the new features - with 30,000 members and many bouncing back emails, the effort failed and crashed. So they launched the site anyway.
I agree that there were several key mistakes made by the Pharaoh in properly communicating with the membership, explaining what is going on, and getting some assistance in finding a possibly better solution for feet.tv but I don't think its right of us to slam him for his actions. Before expressing such inconsiderate comments think about the 4 years you enjoyed the site. Imagine if you had the time and money and technical knowledge to invest in keeping such a site going and having to deal with 2 events forcing you to find a new platform to keep feet.tv going? If you think you could have done it better, go ahead and try and do it now. If not, just be more sympathetic to the situation.
The Pharaoh told me last week that alt.net agreed to let free members view member photos and view profiles. This should be implemented soon. This may make the site more attractive to some of you but remember that keeping the site free was not really an option the Pharaoh could see given his experience with the finances (OK some will disagree and say he could have done a better job on raising money from advertising - agreed but it didn't happen and maybe could happen if he was open to receiving more help from members of the community who were willing and knowledgeable with this are).
The mistakes made left a bitter taste in our mouths and try to be a bit more understanding of what happened, what the Pharaoh had to deal with and how he is still trying to remedy the situation rather than shutting the site down completely.
Thank you for reading!

Thanks Footseek for the post here.
It reminds me of a saying that goes " No matter how thin the pancake looks there are always two sides to it"
I would imagine that it takes a great amount of time and effort to keep a site going. Maybe something good can be salvaged out of all of this.

"The Pharaoh told me last week that alt.net agreed to let free members view member photos and view profiles. This should be implemented soon."
Sure hope so. You can't do that now. I really agree with much of Footseek's defense of the Pharaoh, but if my profile has really been transported to the new site I think I should be able to view my own pics without paying. In addition, I (foolishly) did not make a back-up of most of them before my old hard-drive crashed at the beginning of the year, so currently they are lost to me forever unless I pay to go get them.
Again, I do not blame the Pharaoh for not wanting to create a new site from scratch, because getting kicked off of Ning almost exactly two years ago was I'm sure a hurtful and insulting experience for him. But a lot of other members felt the same way, and it was all of us through the work of taking and posting pics and videos who made that site such a landmark event in the history of our community.

If your own profile pics were imported properly you should be able to access them and edit them with a free membership. I know I was able to. You need to click on your name at the top right corner of the page which brings you to the profile settings page.

Well. I'm extremely disappointed by the new site. I haven't deleted my profile, in the hope that there is some kind of improvement, but I dunno.
I think we have a variety of individual options, in moving on, and none of them are ideal, but they are all we have:
1. This site has been a mainstay over the years. Let's make it more active. There are features here that I suspect are grossly under-utilized.
2. FetLife. I've joined that site, and from my newbie perspective, it's interesting, VERY much worth checking out. I'm not really interested in other aspects of the BDSM community, and gay men - much less guys into feet - are VERY much in the minority there (so there is precious little content addressing guys into feet), but there are a few pioneers. A lot of the more attractive features of feet.tv - adding friends/contacts, an autobio, pics and other individualized features are there, and the groups are active. Frankly, I've always found dom/sub stuff, and other roleplay types of things to be personally rather boring (I just don't get excited by the psychological side of it), so as a passionate mutualist, I'm an extreme minority on FetLife, but it still seems like a 'community,' and the interactivity is very impressive.
3. Recon. I haven't investigated that site yet. Maybe I will. I hear good things.
4. Dudesnude, Adam4Adam, Craigslist. None of these are specific to anything, but maybe you'll get lucky. They all have strengths and weaknesses, and your BS filter needs to be on when working your way through them, but they are valid options for getting yourself out there.
5. MyFriend'sFeet. I'm there, but I've been dormant there for 3 or 4 years; it seemed to be a pics and nothing else kind of site, not interactive, and pretty much worthless for actually meeting people. If you're like me and don't live in an area with anything like foot parties or a major city where you *might* be able to sniff out some good local pals to commiserate with, pics are better than nothing.
I guess my point is - we shouldn't put all our eggs into one basket, so to speak. These various other sites - this one included - are all valuable backups in preserving and developing community. It's nice to have one go-to site with lots of features and interactivity - however if such a site goes down, there is the potential for it to really devastate a community, which is pretty much what has just happened. I miss it. I've lost a ton of contacts. If none of the above listed sites give us everything we are looking for, they all take care of valuable parts of that, and if you use them all well, maybe that will restore that community.

This site is terrible, and unethical.. i had a profile at BDSM.com, and saw that it was on this site! They must have ported all the profiles without letting people know. Im unjoining both sites.

Thanks tozentevas for the insight, I went to Fetlife and signed on, nothing much to do there, besides it's most a host of other fetishes that I'm so-so with, so I'll see where that goes. I go into A4A exclusively and CraigsList sometimes. Other than that, it's sad that it went to the route that it did, I really do miss my good friends there.
Who knows, something might pop up, so it's a wait see.
P.S.: I'm so glad I come here. I like to know what's going and read up on insights views and opinions here.

I think footseek helps to make my original point.
If you had a popular website with a 30,000 membership
and if just HALF of us had sent Pharaoh 10 to 20 dollars
you don't think that could have helped him to start and
maintain a brand new site? I think it could have. That's
why so many of the good foot sites(Myfriendsfeet, Barefoot
guys) stay afloat through their membership fees.
Did Pharoah make a lot of mistakes in dealing with this
situation? Yes. But I still think if he had gotten strong
financial support from the "community" it could have made
the difference between keeping Feet.TV alive and where it
is now. Gone.

To add that, flickfire...
At a time when he mentioned about donating -- he also mentioned that there were ways of donating. By joing/becoming a member of say JockFootFantasy, MyFriendsFeet and whathaveyou -- I guess we can notify that we joined those pay sites and that would cover the cost. I thought that was another way of contributing. I even attempted to do that because I used to be a member of one of those said sites and want to put what I paid at those site to donate to Feet.tv
Again, just a thought

So it's OK to admit that the Pharoah made several fundamental mistakes, but it's not right to criticize him about them? That makes no sense to me at all! I don't think anyone on here is unappreciative of what a great thing we had with feet.tv for 4 years. The issue here is the way that it ended, which was all wrong. Also, after reading FootStudNY's post on page 4 of this thread regarding the Pharoah's management style, I can have no sympathy for the fact that he was doing everything single-handedly: there was simply no reason for things to have been run that way, just as there is no reason to believe that the hasty and messy transformation of feet.tv that has occurred is the only way that things could have worked out.
We've been mourning feet.tv on this thread for nearly a month now, and haven't yet found any really satisfactory alternative... shouldn't we then be talking about recreating what we've lost? Are there any guys out there with the willingness and skills to do it, who could set up a team?

Has the site changed at all since they horrid move? I wish it would just go back to how it wa. I wonder if The Pharaoh even knows how mad people are or if he is just delusional to it.

It wouldn't be a surprise to me if he just flat out forgotten about us. I wouldn't join that alt.com if someone paid me to join. I shouldn't have to pay to meet people and then nine times out of ten, it's not what you expect. So, I think he was swooned by the people of alt.com in order to make some $$$.
Who knows, but it's awful with the new turnout.
...and only 2 months now.
