Hindus literally worship the feet of gurus (religious leaders). They believe that life energy flows from their feet, so they decorate the feet with sandalwood paste, flowers, milk, and other stuff.

If I go to a Hindu temple, would they let me massage the feet of the guru?

The ceremony was lovely, but the choir could stand a few more rehearsals.

I always mute the video whenever I watch it. It's too loud and I cant understand anything in it.
However, I love that guru's feet, especially when they do close up shots of his soles. I wonder what his feet smell like?
I even fantasize about performing this to a guru myself. Would I be allowed?

Wolf9, you mute the video? When I made my smart-assed comment about the choir, I was just trying to be funny. Actually, I love Indian music, and I shouldn't say Indian music as though there were only one kind. Like Indian thought, philosophy, languages, and peoples, there are many, many varieties and if you mute the music you're missing a beautiful part of an Indian experience.
See the Deepa Mehta film "'Water"' which is now avaiable on DVD in the original Hindi with English titles or in a dubbed-in-English version, on the same DVD. Do NOT mute the music. It's by the Indian composer A. R. Rahman and is sensual and glorious. I personally think the picture is one the best ever made. And when you see the bare feet of that handsome Indian actor John Abraham you may just sell your worldly possessions and take off for India.
But I would seriously stay out of Hindu temples if your only purpose in going there is to grope feet. The Hindus can be just as cranky and cantankerous as Buddhists and Methodists if they sense you're being disrespectful.

Hi Ftlaudft! I agree that "Water" is an incredibly beautiful and powerful movie. John Abraham's feet could be the hottest on our planet. You're right on target. Thanks!

Could they perform "pada puja" to me? Or would I have to perform it to someone else?

And delicious looking feet. I would have loved to lick his feet clean instead of them washing it with food.
