View Full Version : Why the fascination with celebrities?

The "Different Celebs" thread on the Footbuddies Picture Post board, with its fifteen thousand posts and its million and a half views is by far the most popular topic of the thousands posted since these boards opened in 2006.
While I appreciate the enthusiasm and dedication of all the posters to this topic and to all those who have given their kudos to those efforts, I have to scratch my head and ask "why the bejeezus are so many of you in the membership so utterly consumed by it?"
Help me understand the logic, please.
Most of you are never going to meet any of these men. And if you happen to get lucky enough to meet one of them, you will almost certainly never see them barefoot. And if, by some mystical alignment of the stars and planets, you happen to see them barefoot, you will never, never, NEVER get to do anything about it.
It seems to me a clear-cut path to eternal blue-balls. You can only masturbate to ones and zeros so many times before your six-shooter no longer unloads from it.
Why do we not read more stories about the feet of the guy next door, or your college roommate, or your best bud, or even your local plumber? Are we that scared and inhibited that we have never dared to have a real experience and therefore resort to fantasy to get our jollies?
I look at these celebrities, who appear painfully alike and "meh" to me, and wonder what the fascination is. Please enlighten me, esteemed members.

Well, as you know, I am a huge fan of the celeb feet forum, and I think there are several reasons why myself and many others love it. Firstly, the cult of celebrity is so big that it's hard to avoid, and as a result of celebs being in the public consciousness, many people have several celebs that they find attractive and whose feet they would love to see. Secondly, on a matter of aesthetics, there is pretty much something for everyone, from twinks to bears to silver foxes and rugged manly guys, and as a result of being in the public eye, they tend to be a very well groomed example of that particular type. Finally, for me, BECAUSE there is never any chance of meeting them or seeing their feet in real life, when they 'bare their soles' as it were, whether in a show or (my favourite) a photoshoot, it is quite an exciting thing, especially if you have been crushing on them for ages and have been dying to see their feet.
Those are the reasons for me, others may love it for different reasons, but I hope that gives a little insight :-)

I think it's kind of funny, because if it weren't for the celebrity threads on this forum, I don't even think I'd visit this site.
That being said, you have it in reverse. It's BECAUSE we see these celebrities all the time, we're curious about their feet. Not the other way around. You see these celebrities all the time and you rarely get to see their feet. So when you do, it's a treat. And when you can't, it's frustrating. The celebrity thread helps to relieve that frustration. Plus we've all had an experience where we watch an actor in a TV show or movie for a few hours just to see a glimpse of his feet. Having the thread on here means we don't have to waste our time, we can just get to the good stuff. It's a luxury we didn't always have and it's something I think everybody in that thread is grateful for.
Let it also be known-- I want to see ALL feet-- but I'm mostly interested in familiar feet. If there was a similar thread that only posted pictures of people I knew in real life who are footshy, or whose feet I've never had a chance to see, then it'd be just as much of a turn on for me.
I think it's just a perfect storm-- celebrities are often attractive, there are a wide range of types from twinks to mature and every type of guy in between, they're people you've seen before and people you'll likely see again. There's a fantasy involved, a story, a familiarity that just grabs you by the balls.
It's an attraction that goes deeper than just seeing a picture and thinking it's hot, because you've already been exposed to the person. And there's a shared experience with the others in that thread-- we've all formed our own "relationship" to celebrities and it allows us to build connections with one another more easily and get excited about sharing and participating.
I can't feel that same way when I see a disembodied pair of feet in another thread, or pics of some porn model who's entire job is to try and get me excited about his feet. And you know what-- same thing goes for half of the celebrities in that thread. I'm not familiar with like over 50% of the celebs that get posted and the ones I'm not familiar with don't turn me on nearly as much as the ones that do.
But you know what-- I do have to say, I take slight offense by being told I'm living in a fantasy world. It's not like that at all. I have foot fun all the time in real life-- why do I need to seek it out here? Yes, when I'm looking at pictures of celebrities there's a certain level of fantasy involved-- but that's because I'm online. I mean when in rome for chrissakes.
And what you're describing-- pics and stories of the guys next door and hot hook-ups and whatnot-- that's just as much fantasy as the celebrity thread. But the big difference is, the celeb thread is all out in the open. Those actors and models consented to having their feet photographed or videotaped and they know that their position as famous people makes them sexually desirable. They live in the public life, so it's okay for us to publically fantasize about them.
Spilling the beans about what happens in my bedroom or snapping pictures of the people of my life so a bunch of strangers online can jerk off to it-- I'm way too private of a person to be into that. Personally I think a lot of the stuff that goes on in other threads-- the secret voyeur pictures or pics of passed out friends-- is kind of suspect. I can enjoy the celebrity thread and even participate and share without having to feel guilty or get too public with my personal sex life.
Different strokes for different folks.

Yep, tenchichan summed it up perfectly. Feet that belong to someone you know are a million times hotter than disembodied feet/the feet of some random dude.
Seeing the feet of a well-known celebrity is infinitely more exciting to me than seeing the feet of someone's next-door-neighbour/roommate/a porn star that I don't care about and have never seen before.
I probably wouldn't come here much either if we didn't have the celeb threads.

I think gianni9uk, tenchichan and rainboww made some good points.
I don't think it has much to do with them being famous or celebrities, whatever. It's just the fact that they're 'familiar' and they're 'available'. When you go see a movie and you see a good looking guy in it, and you're obviously interested in his feet. Even if there's nothing in the movie itself, there's a great chance that with just a little bit of good old google-ing you'll find something that will satisfy your 'curiosity'.
Whereas if you see a good looking stranger at the movies, you've no idea who he is and you can't 'google' him, chances are you're never gonna see him again, let alone his feet so there's no point indulging in that kind of fantasy cause it's just frustrating.
On another note, for me (personally), it has a lot to do with another factor: the presence of a context.
Context in a way that it's non-existant in 'professional' foot-fetish pics/videos etc. A simple 5-sec scene in a movie will turn me on much more than 30 minutes of one person licking and sucking on a foot, with no interaction, no context, nothing at all.
The lack of context then makes it too 'artificial'. Apart from the "celeb threads" (personally, I'm far more interested in the Vidcaps thread), one other thread that I appreciate very much is the Beautiful feet and akeel's updates. Although they're complete strangers, those candid pics are far more 'genuine' and 'natural'.
I'm not sure if I would ever share stories about my friends, roommates etc. Even if I had something to say. It doesn't quite feel right. I also don't read those stories cause when I did, it sounded so fake.

I think SnowFanatic makes a valuable point when he talks about the familiar and the available as traits that draw us to celebrities, and then he goes on to discuss context as an element. Each individual is unique but has ultimate importance in the context of the collective. The whole community then is important only so far as it enables the indiviual to develop his own spark of uniqueness. So the individual seeks out members to be common models, heroes and important figures, important in terms of their personality qualities, their nobility of character, and yes, their feet.
We may think of these celebrities as heroes, we may use them as role models, and here we may check out their foot and face pictures to jerk off to in our private fantasies. No harm done. We have to realize that fantasy is an important element in the development of our sexual selves in the real world. And the real world is a desert without the enthusiasm and imagination that fantasy will bring to it. Of course, we don't want to drift off and live exclusively in our fantasy world. We want to use our fantasy world positively as a tool to help us bring technicolor to our real world experiences. Personally, I would rather have a lover with a small cock and big imagination than the other way around. I would definitely prefer a guy with tiny spaghetti toes and a big enthusiasm than ... well, you know what I mean.

Asking that is like asking what's the point of Myfriendsfeet, TickleAbuse, and even Bubbafeet(which I love btw). It's the same with reading or seeing pictures of other guys experiences. All forms of pornography are built on fantasy. I'm never going to tickle User84's college roommate and I'm never going to suck Parker London's toes just like I'll never smell Ryan Gosling's feet so I don't think its a huge difference.

The celebrity section is also my favorite section. What I don't understand is why people post pics of celeb feet that are so blurred that you can't even tell that they're feet! Or there is a tiny one millimeter section in view. And lastly, when they post a whole series of a particular scene, and all the pics are 99.9 per cent identical. Those are my peeves....

Isn't it obvious? There are people out there who will be happy even if they get a tiny glimpse, especially if it's someone they're particularly interested in.
And the other question - sometimes you just want to capture all the little details and even if it's a short scene, good enough for 1 picture, I'm still going to post 2 or 3. Simply to sort of give more to those interested.
You can always skip what you don't like. We all do it. Or those who contribute could stop doing it alltogether. I find it hypocritical to complain about things like this. I'm just thankful that there's people out there interested in keeping the community alive.

I think this is a very good question, and the answers have been pretty good. I think one other point to add to it all is that well known celebrities are something we all have in common. That is to say, if I mention the name George Clooney, a lot of people are immediately going to know who you mean. But if I say Sean from Bare Foot Guys, that may not be as well known.
Also, echoing others, we see celebrities often on film, tv, and interviews. So we get a sense we "know" them a bit more, and they become more than just an anon pic.
Well for me, it is the most frequently updated thread. Better to look at celebrity feet than no feet at all. I look at every post. Beautiful feet and Black Dude's feet are my real favourites!

Well everything has been pretty much said,
If we are going to put being into celebrities = living in a fantasy world than the same thing can be said for all of the porn and foot fetish website out there.
They are all selling you a certain fantasy, most of these models arent even into feet, they would eat a cucumber while being naked riding a pony if thats what brings the $$$ and pay their bills.
Being into celebrities doesnt make you a teenager with out much experience in life, a married man still watches porn, why would he still watch porno if he has someone to do the real stuff with? For fantasy of course.
It comes down like most pointed out to a "common" interest and knowledge about someone. Justin Bieber is very well known worldwide but Jimmy from around the block, beside you and 2 other people...no one cares about him. Not to say Jimmy doesnt have great feet, but a thread about Jimmy wont gather much attention Vs Will Smith being barefoot showing his sole.
And to be real, whether it be Zac Efron or Steven your neighbor, I doubt you will have any successful outcome if you approach one of them with
" Hey! Whats up? Could you take off your shoes? So I can see your feet, smell your socks and perhaps lick one of your toes? Thanks! "
Outside from an almost guaranty punch on the eye socket there is not much feet you will get from both of them. Celebrity or not.
Beside if celebrities didnt gather much attention there would not be celebrities cook book, celebrities diets plan, celebrities perfumes, celebrities clothing line, celebrities gossip blogs, youtube videos about celebrities make up or hair style, celebrities work out videos ....etc
It doesnt stop on the feet, we just so happen to LOVE feet in this part of the internet world ; )
***Side note
I dont see anything wrong if people post a series of pictures of a celebrity or captures from a video. Its all about the details someone could find interesting. Some might like captures #2 and others might think #66 was better. A slight detail change can make or break a picture for different foot lovers and the foot god knows we all have different specific things we like.
We should applaud our posters instead of complaining about what they post. If having a blurred or a one toe showing picture of a known celebrity is all we can get so far so be it, a lot of us are going to be interested about it. Maybe contributing to what the standard should be is what some of yall should start doing : )

I actually got to touch Joe McElderry's left foot when I met him once. I didn't ask him. He wasn't even barefoot. He was sockless and I couldn't resist, after a quick chat I just sort of squatted down and shoved my fingers in his shoe. It was like a YOLO moment. Creepy of me but he just ignored it and carried on talking to another fan anyway. Some other fans had a go at me after though, saying I'm lucky security didn't notice and I shouldn't be invading his privacy (even though there were already plenty of pictures of his feet anyway). Probably the only interaction I'd ever get with his feet, but I'd still love to see every picture of his feet that ever surfaces the internet, even if the'yre blurry, small, just a toe or in socks just because I'm so obsessed with him.

Beautiful feet are beautiful feet and I would be happy to see any pair of gorgeous male feet regardless of whom these belong to.
However, I feel that the odds of seeing feet are better when this involves celebrities for they are much more often and repeatedly photographed, followed and reported on. All their moves are tracked and snapped -- be it on vacation or whatnot. Then you even have the instagram requests for foot shots that many celebrities nicely respond to.
Look at the great It's Raining Feet, the magnificent site dedicated to male celebrity feet. I have been a member for years and so many of the celebrities whose foot shots have been posted there, I have never heard of. Talk of celebrities (actors, athletes, etc.) coming from every corner of the world -- South America where there are so many countries for example, then Asia, Europe, etc. Just look at the vast number of soccer teams and players and just from these, you already have a huge number of highly photographed men -- these are men I have never heard of yet I just love seeing their feet.
Then look at the actors who appear in soap operas -- I never watch soap operas but I do know that there are so many dazzling men appearing in them. So, for me, the celebrity factor does not really matter for I really do not know about them, much less watch them act. I just know that they are drop dead handsome and I would love to see their feet. And because they can be screen-capped and photographed very often, I have far better chances and odds of getting to see the feet.
As mentioned above, these celebrities are usually extremely good-looking and fit guys so this is a bonus when matched with a great pair of feet. Since these handsome men are often seen and talked about, one gets to really see how good-looking they are and there is the automatic desire to also see their feet. But there is also less possible frustation because there is a higher possibility that somewhere along the line -- a photo, a screen-cap, a YouTube video will eventually pop up to help make one's fantasy a reality!

Seth Meyers once told of an experience he had while walking the streets of NY in an tv interview where he said a stranger once asked him if could sniff his shoes and socks and that the stranger even offered to pay Seth to especially at least smell his shoes but Seth declined the offer.

Part of it is the thrill of the chase too, because we don't often see certain people's feet, it's a win when we do. Take Andrew Trischitta for example, I watched him on One Life To Live for years, desperate for a decent sole shot, only found it last week and they are stunning!
